Welcome to 2010

Rosehill School (for students who have special needs) has students whose ages range from 5 to 21. A Section 9 agreement application is completed. Once this agreement is confirmed, an application for Transport Assistance is completed to allow students to have taxi transport arranged. Families can choose to transport their child themselves.

Most students attending have an Ongoing Reviewable Resource Scheme (ORRS) verification. Some students have a High and Complex Needs verification or a High Health Needs verification. Some students who do not have ORRS verification do gain permission to enrol. Enrolment applications are approved by Group Special Education, (GSE).

Some students are at the base school in Rosehill Drive Papakura. Others are suited to being placed in one of our satellite classes. The satellite classes are as follows: two at Papakura South School, two at Rosehill Intermediate School, one at Clendon Park School and two at James Cook High School. Two new classes are to be developed, in the near future,  at another host school, Manurewa East School. We also have an arrangement with Rosehill College, whereby some students can attend College classes to suit the need.

For some students, arrangements are made to travel to Manukau Institute of Technology for specialist short courses and for others, arrangements are made to attend work experience. Correspondence School facilities are also accessed. Many of our senior students are tutored in the  ASDAN  programme. (Accredited Secondary Development)

There is a wide variety of needs which are catered for by a very special group of Teachers, Support Staff and Therapists, Psychologist and Specialist Teachers.  Some students are dependant for all their physical needs, some have behavioural challenges which are best met in the small group classes which we have, some have intellectual challenges, also are best met in the small group classes which Rosehill School can provide. The high staff to student ration ensures extra one to one attention to reach Individual Education Plan and Curriculum goals.

Each student has an Individual Education Plan in conjunction with having interesting and stimulating New Zealand Curriculum goals, P Level goals and ASDAN goals attended to.

The Board of Trustees members are committed to governing the school in order to ensure the best possible conditions, programmes and facilities for our students. The Board meets on the last Tuesday of each month and hosts the annual BBQ and Prizegiving event in December each year.

All staff adhere to the maxim that our students are treated with dignity and respect and that they are at school to deliver programmes which will develop student ability to learn, feel safe, be happy and progress.

You may wish to visit our school. You are most welcome.
